I actually used to dance with them long, long ago. Aunty Lei was always welcoming to everyone who wanted to learn hula, and she didnʻt stress competition. I also loved the smooth, graceful style of Aunty Maiki in her choreography. I wanted to record more, but I was running out of battery at the end of the long day!

You need to thank Kenneth Makuakāne who co-wrote this song and got these members of the Pandanus Club back together after 30 years to perform at the Hawaiʻi Book & Music Festival and a few other places around Oʻahu. I (Jody Y) was just there to record it to share this reunion with you all on RUclips! You wonʻt find many videos of them performing live back in the day because there werenʻt many easy recording devices or social media in the 1980s and 90s!

@@joshuac6389 I started recording these videos so I could share them with friends who could not be there over 14 years ago, and that is still my pleasure in maintaining my channel. I lost most of my things, including my good cameras and recording equipment during the pandemic and I just started monetizing to make some money from my channel last year, even though I know it has been very popular, especially among hula dancers and lovers of Hawaiian music away from the islands who want to find live performances of individual songs by certain artists rather than stream live or record a whole concert or performance. I spend a lot of time on the Who What When Where & sometimes Why in these videos to inform viewers and to make organizing and referencing them easier for everyone.
